Business Doctors Management Consulting Gone Wild edition by Sameer Kamat Literature Fiction eBooks
An Unusual subject line for the book. I was caught into reading this book because of the plot.A pretty interesting one , a Don ad his organization having ventures in all the aspects of underworld (casino, bribery, kidnapping, drugs , extortion and so on ..)
An in adequate boss gets the business into negative (losses , cant get the management bug out now :)).
A plotting and HOT wife (who will sleep with anyone to get her work done and keep the money flowing)
The ever so dumb members of the gang WFB..
AND then enters the management consultants to bring the business back into shape.
This is the pl0t and sounds interesting enuf.
The book flows nicely from the requirement to the analysis to the solution and analysis phase.
How the consultants fond the problem and what are the remedies given , thrown with Twist from the HOT wife .
I liked the book as it was short and easy read. The story was pretty crisp and there was no try to dragging the book into more pages.
the twists in the book towards the end was something which caught me unawares
The language is very simple and will not force people to use dictionaries.
Overall a cool 4/5 from me

Business Doctors Management Consulting Gone Wild edition by Sameer Kamat Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Ok for beginners
This book has an interesting concept.
What if management consulting used their knowledge to help organized crime?
It was a good read. The story was quite fun and progressing quickly.
But I was expecting a bit more insights on how consultant would work.
First of all big Thanks to Sameer Kamat for writing this book About a review in a simple word I love this book. Sameer write a very nice books where you can understand the role of business consultant. Interesting books read it completely in 2 seating. although little bit of Bollywood story A quite an interesting definite recommend
A really poor excuse for a book about Management Consulting. I speak as someone who has been a consultant for almost forty years.
I bought this book due to the large number of positive recommendations but was sorely disappointed. Starts off well but becomes boring, pretentious and corny
If you want a book on learning management through "gangstas", go read the Godfather instead and if you wanted a book on management, then there are at least 1 million better ones.
This refreshing book was well written and covered an interesting scenario of combining two very unlikely world's on the surface - organized crime and business consulting. The story is interesting and has just enough twisted elements to appeal to the inner human turkey neck factor we all have that drives our desire to watch gore movies and gawk at car wrecks. This read is a strong recommend.
I recently finished reading the 'Business Doctors', and it was a welcome relief from the me-too novels and mind-numbing hinglish phenomenon. Set in the backdrop of Los Angeles, this is a story of an Ivy League educated management consultant who has encountered an unusual client, an underworld mafia.
Michael Schneider, the protagonist, is in a moral dilemma. He has a fledgling organization to save, and an affair with the mafia's wife adds Bollywood-like spice to the storyline.
This is a book which will be loved by an audience who are anyhow related to business education, the prospective MBA junta and consultants more so. The book is laced with wit and humor at the right places, and is quite a successful experiment in the Indian fiction genre.
Nevertheless, there are some flaws which could have been avoided. The character development should have been more rounded to fully immerse the reader in the story. The mental image of the characters clashes with the facts as they unfold, which breaks the flow and leads to some confusion. The story seemed to violate the tenet of "Show, don't tell" at some places, which leads to a slower pace, especially in the first 1/3rd part of the novel.
There are many references to pop culture, such as 'Brick in the Wall' (Pink Floyd), Rabbit hole (Alice in the Wonderland), Short-term memory (Memento or Ghajini?), Inception and Ham on Rye (Charles Bukowski). This could be intentional or accidental, but gives me joy nonetheless.
All in all, the concept was fresh amidst a barrage of worthless literature pouring in nowadays; yet the execution could have been better at some places and the editing process more ruthless. Read it to appreciate the 'hatke' factor!
PS. I purchased the version @ 49 bucks )
